Dave Steward who is the interviewer on our recordings of some of the older residents of the village, is a Local Historian, Professional Family History researcher, and public speaker. He currently lives in Kesgrave although his family come from Badwell.
Dave has been researching his own family tree since 1998. He helped his late Father with their research as he was the person who started it all off.
Dave has researched many Family Trees for clients and family member’s. Much of this was done in the early days before it became popular on the internet and many a Saturday was spent at our Local Record Record Offices. Dave’s own family tree now has a total number of relatives of just over 65,000 people, which include famous people from both the world of entertainment and Royalty. Dave can now trace his family back through a maternal (female) line to 1260 to distant relatives who lived in Walsham Le Willows.
So if you live in Badwell Ash, the chances are that you are related to Dave in one way or another!
In the course of his Family History research, Dave has visited all of the 550 + Suffolk Church’s and is one of only a handful to have done this.
Dave speaks all over Suffolk, Norfolk and Essex to mainly Local History Societies on many historical subjects, including Tudor history, the history of Suffolk Churches, Dads Army, Historic Houses and Palaces and Local Villages to name but a few.
